Oak View Civic Council

The Oak View Civic Council had operated under a 501(c)(4) organization, and over the years, had acted as a non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non-political group of people that gathered for the purpose of reviewing and discussing what may help to improve the community, based on input from community members, and as able, to help coordinate efforts that actively advance improvements, whether they be of a civic, cultural, educational, philanthropic, recreational, or social nature within the community.

To those ends, OVCC had, in collaboration and cooperation with various local Oak View non-profit groups, promoted and supported many community events, issues, and activities, such as Oak View Day, Oak View BBQ, Oak View Pageant of Excellence, Oak View Memorial Day Parade, Oak View History Days, Christmas Tree at OV Ranch Market, Little League Baseball (founded and develooped at Dell Park), or by addressing public safety, such as road and travel conditions through the Oak View Business District (between Larmier and Santa Ana), and local beautification projects (e.g., weed control along the Businss District or abandoned shops that became unsightly). These are some of what the OVCC as a whole has done, over the years.

In the mid-1970s the Oak View Civic Council provided a Deed Grant of Oak Dell Park (where the Little League baseball fields are) and of Devil's Gulch, to Ventura County, which included a prior-established tenant lease agreement with the Oak View Little League (OVLL) to have the right to use the fields during baseball season for "an indefinite period of years." For decades beyond the end of that lease in 1986, the County continued to lease the fields to OVLL, which established Little League as a cultural choice of Oak View.

In 2020, our prior County Supervisor Steve Bennett, and Welcome to Oak View - sign by Post Office Caltrans, conducted the Ojai Valley Highway 33 Multimodal and Community Enhancement Study Jan 2020. The ideas in this study are currently being pursued in a demonstration project.

An Oak View Forum was established Fall 2016 (see online: http://oakviewciviccouncil.org/forum/index.php) as an opportunity to expand community members' understanding and knowledge of the community's history, issues, plans, programs, and more. The forum is registration-based, to reduce and avoid SPAM. To comment or reply within the Forum, you must be registered. Otherwise, you can only view the Threads.

Sign up to our announcements email list for information about community-related information that may address the overall goals. If you have ideas about improving our community, please send a message to email@oakviewciviccouncil.org.

An OVCC email list exists, and you can get on it by requesting at: subscribe@oakviewciviccouncil.org
